Childcare is going places
For some inner city children, Save the Children’s Mobile Playbus is the only exposure they get to books and jigsaw puzzles, according to Playbus Team Leader Michelle Lazaris. Centrelink keeps students below the poverty line
For those attending university, Centrelink benefits should be a welcome respite amidst an endless cycle of learning, study and assessments, financial safety blanket so students don’t have to work 30 hours a week on top of studying full time, attending lectures and tutorials, writing essays and studying for exams. Working for free pays off
Sophie Graham, 21, is in the third year of her Public Communications degree at the University of Technology, Sydney. Recently, she did a two-week internship at an advertising agency and soon she will do another 40 hours of work experience at a Public Relations Company. Eighty hours of unpaid work experience is a part of her degree and she believes it has been very positive experience thus far.
